Overview:
Mitutoyo America’s Gage Calibration courses are unique, active, educational experience designed specifically for those who plan and perform calibrations of dimensional measuring tools, gages, and instruments. This course is taught in the Mitutoyo Institute of Metrology’s Training Lab in Aurora, IL and broadcast live in a virtual session. The course combines modern calibration and quality management ideas with best practices and “how-to” calibration methods for common calibrations of micrometers and calipers. The course is ideal for those operating in ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories or in gage labs directly supporting manufacturing operations.

This Dimensional Gage Calibration course covers the most common dimensional calibrations, and will also address the essential elements, policies, and requirements of a modern gage calibration system. Woven into the live demonstration, the course will cover calibration system standards, laboratory management, traceability, measurement uncertainty, temperature issues, and laboratory accreditation.

Seminar V111: Introduction to Dimensional Gage Calibration
This virtual session is intended to offer participants training and resources that closely replicate Seminar 111. Adapted from our popular in-person Dimensional Gage Calibration courses, this virtual version utilizes Mitutoyo America’s online material and streaming services. By reviewing the videos and resources in advance, the time together in the virtual session can focus on demonstrations and answering participant questions.

The course will thoroughly cover micrometer and caliper calibration. In addition, the course will reinforce principles in dimensional calibration such that the student can extend the concepts to other measuring equipment.

Prerequisites:
To be successful in this course, students should have prior experience using micrometers and calipers. Students are also required to watch approximately two hours of free instructional videos prior to attending this course. Students who do not meet these prerequisites may struggle with this course.

Participants are encouraged to have the measurement tools, gage blocks, and resources in front of them while attending the virtual session, allowing the participant to replicate the demonstrated procedures and strategies, sparking questions and discoveries.

Certificate:
Participants will earn an Attendance Certificate from Mitutoyo America Corporation.

Additional Credentials:
This course also includes the opportunity for all students to complete the Level 1 test necessary to earn a Mitutoyo Certified Credential in Dimensional Gage Calibration for micrometers and calipers. This test is included at no extra charge and is particularly useful at demonstrating knowledge and skills to managers and auditors.
