Learn about Mitutoyo’s Quick Image machine and software- QIPak – in this eLearning Course! Users will be introduced to the intricacies of QIPak, starting with a total system overview of the software and machine operations. Once complete, a tutorial on the measuring software – starting with a software interface overview! As you learn more about the software, new users will receive detailed walkthroughs on applying measurements, conditions, and more. After learning about the various settings, users will be taught how to create part programs – starting with manual alignments, touching on secondary alignments and measurement procedures, and finally running the part program.
The following topics are covered in this course:
1) System Overview
Users will be introduced to the machine, how to turn on the machine, and basic homing procedures to begin measurements within the QIPak Software. Powering down the machine is also covered, teaching users how to safely turn your machine off. We will also navigate through basic stage movement for the Quick Image, touching on the QI’s Quick Release knobs, the fine-adjustment knobs, and the two resolution modes. Users will also navigate through the software interface, learning about the different measurement modes (EZ and Pro modes), as well as how the screen layouts change within each measurement mode.
2) Calibration
No operator calibration is required for the QI System – Mitutoyo recommends any annual maintenance or calibration be performed by a Mitutoyo Field Service Technician.
3) Machine Operation
The Quick Image has a manual stage, requiring users to interact with the stage to move the part. Learn the difference between the quick release knobs and the fine adjustment knobs, and how they work with your measurement system.
4) Coordinate Setup
Before setting up any coordinate systems, users need to prepare their machine and part for the measuring procedure. To begin, users will navigate through the lighting controls and the multiple different light sources available on the QI system. Learn about the different sources, how to control them, and how to properly set the light exposure on your part for the most accurate measurements. Once your lights have been set, learn how to align your parts for measurement procedures, starting with identifying origins for your coordinate system. Users will walk through a manual alignment measuring procedure, as well as a secondary alignment for reference.
5) Basic Measuring Procedures
To create measuring procedures, users will be introduced to the Functions and the Tools within QIPak. Learn about how to define shapes, and how to define the area in which the measurements will take place. Users will learn about the 15 most commonly used tools to help you stay operational on your machine. After the brief introduction to QIPak’s different tools and functions, users will receive a detailed walkthrough covering the application of the tools. Approaching the final module of the training, users will apply everything covered in this course to run a Part Program and measure the part.
6) QIPak Proficiency Exam
A certificate of completion will be awarded to the end-user for passing the proficiency exam following the conclusion of the QIPak course. Users have unlimited attempts at the exam.
