Mitutoyo i-Checker

The i-Checker is specially designed to calibrate measuring accuracy of dial indicators, dial test indicators, and other electronic comparison gage heads with a stroke of up to 100mm (4″).

• ±(0.2+L/100)µm indication accuracy.
• Directly inspects an indicator with a stroke of up to 100mm (4″). The dial test indicator, bore gage and lever-type inductive head can be inspected with optional accessories.

QM-Height Series ABSOLUTE Digital Height Gage

The New QM-Height measures height, as well as step, inside/outside widths, inside/outside diameters and circle pitch (height components), and also measures free-form surface maximum/minimum heights and displacement by scanning measurement. It remembers the preceding measurement (height component) and can display the difference (pitch) between results below the measurement.

  • 5-axis operation reduces the time required for probe rotational movements and allows more flexible positioning. This also ensures easy access to complex workpieces and saves time both during programming and measurement.
  • In addition to 3-axis point measurement similar to conventional coordinate measuring machines, the PH20 probe head also supports ‘head touch’ operation for quick point measurement using the two rotational axes of the probe only, with no movement required along the CMM axes.
  • The PH20 incorporates a TP20 probe and allows the use of modules designed for the TP20. Automatic probe changeover with the TCR20 module changer is also supported.

IMTS 2014 – DMSC Demonstrates New QIF 2.0

Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) President Curtis Brown of Honeywell FM&T, Lockheed Martin, NIST, John Deere, Capvidia, Metrosage, Origin International, IPI Solutions, Mitutoyo America Corporation, Innovalia Metrology, MTConnect Institute, InfinityQS, Kotem Ltd, Renishaw, and PAS Technology, demonstrates QIF version 2.0 as published in the September 5th, 2014 ANSI Standards Action publication.

The QIF V2.0 demonstration shows the metrology based workflow where all information for transporting quality data is derived from common libraries so that information modeling components can be reused throughout the entire quality measurement process and, as a result, the entire process is inherently interoperable.

Mitutoyo Contracer® CV-4500 Feature Overview

Mitutoyo Contracer® CV-3200/4500 Series contour measuring systems combine speed, ease of use with best-in-class accuracy Mitutoyo America Corporation announces availability of Contracer® CV-3200/4500 Series contour measuring systems.  These instruments offer significantly increased productivity by combining fast traverse speeds* with many time saving and accuracy enhancing innovations.

The new Contracer® CV-3200/4500 Series machines feature a precision arc-scale built into the Z1 axis (detector) allowing the arc trajectory of the stylus tip to be read directly, thus minimizing error for best in-class accuracy**.  Both series employ an innovative detector arm that lowers workpiece interference while expanding range in the Z1 (detector) axis.  The arm is also equipped with collision auto-stop to assure measurement safety even during high-speed movement. Additional safety features in the joystick unit include a drive speed control knob and emergency stop switch.

Mitutoyo offers four main Rockwell Hardness tester deigns

The Dial HR210, the Digital HR320 MS Rockwell and Superficial model, the HR430 model featuring the dial a weight system and automatic brake/start mechanism in both Rockwell Only and the Rockwell/ Superficial Twin tester configuration. The last type is our HR500 Series which features a similar brake/ start design but also includes a closed loop electronic loading system as well as control over all test parameters such as loading speed and scale selection.

Let’s start with the Dial type HR210. It was designed to be an economical test for those requiring an accurate Rockwell test at an economical price. It features the full 6.5″ capacity without the need to cut a hole in the table for the elevating screw and most importantly, it uses a motor to apply and remove the major test force instead of the oil dash pot system found on some inexpensive imports. This assures that operator influence is reduced and tests run much more consistently.

The HR320 features a digital display with the corresponding benefits of 0.1 HR units, common scale conversions, an offset for cylindrical type corrections, and all three timing functions are adjustable. Its twin tester design allows the operator to test on all 15 Rockwell scales and all 15 Superficial scales when optional indenters are used. The adjustable hanging weight system is used to keep costs down and is a good option when you need a highly versatile tester for future testing requirements.

The two HR430 testers are similar to the digital HR320 model but the dial a weight system allows the testing scales to be changed with much less operator input. Just turn the knob and the test force is set. The automatic brake and test initiation further simplifies the test method.

The Advanced HR500 Series is for the user that wants the most accurate and repeatable results. The projected nose design allows for ID testing down to 22mm with an optional cut down indenter or 40mm for the standard model. The design also lets the elevating screw hang over the edge of the table so the full 8.1″ capacity is available without cutting holes on this model as well. The closed loop loading design does all the work of changing the scale for the operator except change the indenter. Simply select scale from the menu and all scales are selected based on the indenter type so changing from HRC to HR45N is on the same screen. A power elevating screw model is also available but the ease of use of the HR521 makes it the most popular model we offer.

Zero Your Caliper

i use these calipers at work and recently they display 8.7105 when i power on, have to zero out each time i power on. anyone know what will return it to zero as it should? thanks!!!

Ko-ga-me & Robot Integration

Mitutoyo has a wide variety of near-line and in-line gage technologies developed for the shop floor. Here we see one of the latest innovations in our Mach line of CMM’s the MACH Ko-ga-me 12128. This gage was developed to be placed within the work cell to create an in-line measuring solution. It is a fully functional CMM with 120mmx120mmx80mm (5″ x 5″ x 4″) with a 900mm (35.43″) per second measuring speed. It has a 2.2 µm overall accuracy utilizing .02 µm Mitutoyo scale technology. This machine can be fitted with either a TP 200 touch trigger probe or a SP 25M scanning probe system. This system is ideal for high volume, high speed applications, where accuracy and throughput of small work pieces are critical to production. The system features minimal setup requirements with no air and runs on a standard electrical supply of 120V.

In this demonstration unit we see the gage is mounted on a robust stand that has an extended manual Z axis to allow for taller work pieces or fixtures. The parts are automatically deposited in the measurement envelope using a Fanuc pick a place robot. Using pass/fail feedback signals based on the measurements collected, the judgment is then sent to the robot where to deposit the work piece after the measurements have been completed. This custom integration was created by Mitutoyo’s own in house Solutions group whose responsibility is to design and build or assist customers with specific cell and production line development to facilitate inline or near line Quality Control systems. These configurations are largely designed in collaboration with the end users and integrators as they relate to this and other inline technologies, which include CMM’s, Form, Vision, or any of the many other items featured in our catalog.
